At Unsworth Academy our duty of care for the health and wellbeing of all members within our community permeates all aspects of school life. We work tirelessly to promote mental wellbeing through supporting our students, staff and parent/carers.

We have implemented a number of programmes in the school to highlight the importance of supporting mental wellbeing and is embedded across the curriculum, pastoral support, staff, enrichment and our wider community.

At Unsworth Academy there is a highly skilled pastoral team who support our community. Pastoral staff are trained mental health level 2 and level 3 safeguarding trained practitioners. Their wealth of knowledge and experience ensures they work closely with the senior mental health and wellbeing lead.

If you have any concerns relating to your child, please contact the relevant pastoral team who will be able to offer support and guidance.

The Personal Development curriculum is delivered during form time and assemblies. This compliments the dedicated PSHE lessons our learners receive.

Our learners take part in the Lift Off Asdan qualification to support their transition to Unsworth.

Learners complete the My Happy Mind programme backed by the NHS which helps learners build life-long confidence and resilience.

For learners who require more bespoke support we offer:

  • Mental Health support team - referrals are made by the pastoral team
  • NSPCC - referral programme for low mood and loneliness
  • On site counsellors through Bury College

Hummingbird Programme

MedEquip4Kids is a 6 week course that learners access with topics covered including resilience, growth mindset and mindfulness.
