The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on 25 May 2018, updating the previous rules under the Data Protection Act 1998. The new rules strengthen the protection of personal information and extend the rights that we all have over who holds our information and how it is used.

As part of our work to comply with the GDPR, we have updated our Data Protection Policy and Privacy Notices and have made them available to parents and carers within our ‘Policies’ section of the school website. Privacy Notices will also be emailed to parents/carers.

At this time we are also re-seeking consent for using additional photographs or videos of your child on our website, internal displays of other materials and social media. A consent form will be issued by email, and we would appreciate it if you filled this out and returned it to the school office. When doing this please bear in mind that, like most schools, we rely on social media and digital forms of communication to keep parents and carers informed of school activities. We always use images responsibly in our publications and online.

If you have any questions about how the GDPR affects you, or how our school is preparing, you can contact Miss C Allen, School Operations Manager.

Introduction to this policy

Unsworth Academy is now a barrier free establishment. The new main building provides easy accessibility around the school including the establishment of ramps to the ground floors entrances and disabled parking spaces close to the school entrance. A lift is available to facilitate the movement of wheelchair users to the 1st and 2nd floor. Easy access to the sports hall complex is also available.
