The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assured framework. The award focuses on positive LGBT+, (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), inclusion and visibility. The school received this award in September 2023

The approach ensures Unsworth is able to effectively identify and respond to a broad range of needs. The school is currently working towards achieving this.
My Happy Mind Affiliated School
myHappymind was created for schools with a very simple mission: to give today's children the skills to thrive in tomorrow's world. Unsworth Academy has been running this programme since 2022 with outstanding success. Year 7 complete this programme and find it informative and fun.
Hummingbird School
A short course that helps children to be more emotionally resilient and positive. Unsworth Academy has run the Hummingbird Programme since 2021. It supports transition from Primary school.
Excellence in Pupil Development Award
This award offers a structured framework to evaluate and enrich your pastoral curriculum It supports you in developing pupil’s personal attributes and attitudes, such as self-confidence, resilience and self-discipline. With a focus on involving local and national organisations, it helps you prepare pupils for life in modern Britain.
SEND Inclusion Award
We are currently working towards the SENDIA status for the school, This award helps schools deliver high-quality education for pupils with SEND. Compliant with the SEND Code of Practice, the award framework focuses on removing barriers to learning through early identification, inclusive teaching and leadership. It also allows you to evaluate impact to improve classroom practice and pupil outcomes.
